World's Largest Pistachio

The World's Largest Pistachio is a 30-foot concrete monument at McGinn's PistachioLand, a family-run pistachio and wine ranch outside Alamogordo, New Mexico. Tom McGinn began planting pistachio trees on bare desert land in 1980, building what grew into a 12,000-tree orchard and winery. After his death in 2007, his son Tim McGinn had the giant pistachio built and dedicated in 2008 as a memorial, with the monument blessed by a priest from nearby La Luz. Visitors can tour the orchard, sample wine and pistachios, and take photos beside the giant nut.
