World's Largest Frying Pan

The World's Largest Frying Pan is a public sculpture in Long Beach, Washington, commissioned in 1941 by the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce from the Northwest Copper and Sheet Metal Works to promote the town's first clam festival. In 1942, roughly 20,000 people showed up to eat a giant clam fritter cooked on the pan. The pan later toured festivals across the Western United States, including a trip to Los Angeles in 1952, before being restored after years of rusting outside Marsh's Free Museum; over 300 signatures and six bullet holes were found on the original during that restoration. Though not literally the world's largest frying pan, it is the oldest surviving 'world's largest' claimant and the only one actually used to cook food.
