Whiskey Row is the stretch of West Main Street near the Ohio River that was the center of Louisville's bourbon trade, where distillers stored and sold the barrels brought in by train and wagon. The 100 West Main Street Whiskey Row Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010, is a block of eleven buildings built between 1852 and 1905 in Renaissance Revival, Beaux Arts and Chicago School styles, many with cast-iron storefronts. Several were designed by D.X. Murphy & Brother for distilling firms, and J.T.S. Brown and Sons occupied buildings on the north side of the block. Threatened with demolition in 2011 and partly burned in a 2015 fire, the facades were saved by an agreement between the city, developers and preservationists. Old Forester now distills again in its original 1880s home at 119 West Main Street.
