Iron-on patch

Twin Peaks

$8.00

Twin Peaks are two hills, about 925 feet high and roughly 660 feet apart, near the geographic center of San Francisco. They are the second- and third-highest natural points in the city, behind only Mount Davidson, and their summits form a divide that often holds the summer fog on the west side while the east side stays sunny. Christmas Tree Point, about 70 feet below the north peak, is the main overlook, with views across downtown and San Francisco Bay. The undeveloped hilltops are part of the 31-acre Twin Peaks Natural Area, owned by the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department, and are one of the few remaining habitats of the endangered Mission blue butterfly. The Spanish called the hills "Los Pechos de la Chola" and used them for ranching, and they were renamed Twin Peaks after San Francisco came under American control.
