Turkey Mountain Urban Wilderness Area

$8.00

Turkey Mountain Urban Wilderness Area is a wooded wilderness park of about 738 acres on the west side of the Arkansas River in south Tulsa, managed by the River Parks Authority. The hill rises about 300 feet above the river with a view back over the city, and the park runs from Interstate 44 south to 71st Street between US-75 and the river. It began in 1978 with 147 acres bought with Tulsa County, federal and private money, and reached its current size after 88 more acres were added in 2023. Around 30 marked trails, from a quarter mile to three miles long, serve hikers, trail runners and mountain bikers, and in 2016 the National Park Service made the trail system part of the National Recreation Trail network. The main entrance is at 67th Street and Elwood Avenue, and the paved River Parks trail runs along the river edge of the park.
