Iron-on patch

Tower Theatre

$8.00

The Tower Theatre is a Streamline Moderne theater at Olive and Wishon avenues that gives Fresno's Tower District its name. Designed by S. Charles Lee, it opened on December 15, 1939, with an 80-foot neon-lit tower modeled on the Star Pylon at the 1939 New York World's Fair. After closing as a repertory cinema in 1989, it was restored and reopened in 1990 as the Tower Theatre for the Performing Arts. An attempted sale to Adventure Church set off a long public and legal fight, and the City of Fresno bought the theater in 2022 for $6.5 million. It continues to host concerts, comedy and film events.
