The Peachoid

The Peachoid is a 135-foot water tower in Gaffney, South Carolina, built in 1981 by the Chicago Bridge and Iron Company and painted by artist Peter Freudenberg to resemble a ripe peach. It holds one million gallons of water for the Gaffney Board of Public Works and was shaped like a peach to advertise Cherokee County's peach-growing economy. Visible for miles along Interstate 85 between Charlotte and Atlanta, it is one of the most photographed landmarks on that stretch of highway. It gained further fame as a plot device in the Netflix series House of Cards.
