The Gathering Place

$8.00

Gathering Place is a free riverfront park along the Arkansas River in Tulsa, created by the George Kaiser Family Foundation and designed by landscape architect Michael Van Valkenburgh. It opened on September 8, 2018, and at $465 million it is the largest private gift to a community park in U.S. history. Its attractions include the five-acre Chapman Adventure Playground, Williams Lodge, the ONEOK Boathouse, the Great Lawn, sports courts, a BMX pump track and skate park, and gardens and trails, and the Discovery Lab children's science museum opened there in 2022. The park drew more than 3 million visitors in its first year, and in 2019 Time named it one of the World's Greatest Places.
