Iron-on patch

TCL Chinese Theatre

$8.00

Grauman's Chinese Theatre, officially branded the TCL Chinese Theatre since TCL bought its naming rights in 2013, is a movie palace on Hollywood Boulevard along the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Built by a partnership headed by Sid Grauman and designed by Meyer & Holler, it opened on May 18, 1927, with the premiere of Cecil B. DeMille's The King of Kings. Its forecourt holds concrete blocks bearing the signatures, handprints and footprints of film stars from the 1920s to the present. The theater's official story credits Norma Talmadge with starting the tradition by stepping into wet concrete, but that is a popular legend: Grauman and forecourt mason Jean Klossner each told their own versions. The theater has hosted many premieres, including Star Wars in 1977, and three Academy Awards ceremonies.
