Iron-on patch

Tarrant County Courthouse

$8.00

The Tarrant County Courthouse stands at the north end of Main Street in downtown Fort Worth, above the Trinity River. Designed by Frederick C. Gunn and Louis Curtiss and built by the Probst Construction Company of Chicago from 1893 to 1895, it is a pink Texas granite building in Renaissance Revival style that closely resembles the Texas State Capitol, apart from its clock tower. It cost $408,840, and citizens thought it such an extravagance that a new County Commissioners' Court was elected in 1894. The courthouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970, and a $4.5 million renovation of its clock tower was finished in 2012. It still houses the county clerk's office and county courts, and TV viewers know it as the Ranger office in Walker, Texas Ranger.
