Tampa Bay History Center

$8.00

The Tampa Bay History Center is a history museum at 801 Water Street in Tampa's Channelside District, set in Cotanchobee Fort Brooke Park on the Tampa Riverwalk. Its three floors of galleries cover 12,000 years of human habitation and 500 years of recorded history in the Tampa Bay region, from the area's first native inhabitants and Spanish conquistadores to a reproduction of a 1920s cigar store. The 60,000-square-foot building opened on January 17, 2009, and was Hillsborough County's first publicly owned LEED-certified green building. It also houses the Touchton Map Library, a collection of maps and charts spanning more than 500 years, and the Treasure Seekers exhibit on pirates, conquistadores and shipwrecks. The museum became a Smithsonian Affiliate in 2012 and has been accredited by the American Alliance of Museums since 2015.
