Iron-on patch

Springfield Historic District

$8.00

Springfield is a historic neighborhood just north of downtown Jacksonville, Florida, separated from the business district by Hogan's Creek. Established as a residential community around 1869-1871, it grew fastest from the 1880s through the 1920s, especially after the Great Fire of 1901 sent many displaced residents north. The Springfield Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, covers 119 city blocks, about 500 acres, of mostly wood-frame houses in Queen Anne, Colonial Revival, Prairie School, bungalow and other styles. Along its southern edge, the Hogan's Creek park system includes Klutho Park and the balustrades and bridges that architect Henry John Klutho designed in 1929.
