SPAM Museum

The Spam Museum is a free museum in downtown Austin, Minnesota that tells the story of Hormel Foods, the meatpacking company founded in the town that grew into a global brand. It began in January 1991 as a small company anniversary museum in Austin's Oak Park Mall, expanded into a larger dedicated museum in 2001, and moved to its current 14,000-square-foot downtown location in 2016. The seven galleries cover the company's history, its products' role supplying American troops during World War II, and the town's identity as a Hormel company town. Volunteer guides known as Spambassadors lead visitors through interactive exhibits on the Can Central and World Market galleries.
