Snow Canyon State Park, near St. George, Utah, features red and white Navajo sandstone cliffs streaked with black volcanic rock from more recent lava flows. Despite its name, the park has nothing to do with snowfall; it is named for Mormon pioneer leaders Lorenzo Snow and Erastus Snow. Trails through the canyon pass lava tubes, sand dunes, and slot canyons carved into the sandstone. Its proximity to Zion National Park places it within a broader region of red-rock scenery in southwestern Utah.
