Scioto Audubon Metro Park

$8.00

Scioto Audubon Metro Park is a 120-acre nature park on the Whittier Peninsula just south of downtown Columbus, Ohio, run by Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks as part of the Scioto Mile network of riverfront parks. The site, once a brownfield of factories, rail yards and impound lots, was cleaned up and opened as a park in 2009. It lies within the Scioto River-Greenlawn Important Bird Area, where 212 species have been recorded, and its small wetlands and the slack water behind the Greenlawn Avenue dam draw thousands of migrating birds each spring. The park also has a 35-foot outdoor climbing wall, considered the largest free one in the United States, an obstacle course, a water tower with observation platforms and a stretch of the Scioto Greenway Trail. The Grange Insurance Audubon Center, a LEED Gold nature center with a green roof, stands at its western edge.
