Iron-on patch

Murchison Rogers Park

$8.00

Murchison Rogers Park is a small city park and overlook at 1600 Scenic Drive, on the southern tip of the Franklin Mountains in central El Paso. At about 4,200 feet, it looks out across downtown El Paso, the Rio Grande and Ciudad Juárez. The park opened in 1963 and is named for El Paso pioneer and businessman Samuel Macintosh Murchison. It sits along Scenic Drive, a mountainside road that Depression-era work crews helped build and that the city runs as a park, closing it to cars on some Sundays for walkers, runners and cyclists. The Friends of Murchison Park and Santa Fe landscape architects Surroundings Studio have drawn up plans to make the steep overlook accessible to all visitors.
