Iron-on patch

Sandia Crest

$8.00

Sandia Crest is the long, forested ridgeline at the top of the Sandia Mountains, and at 10,678 feet it is the highpoint of the Sandia–Manzano range. It lies outside Albuquerque city limits, in the Sandia Ranger District of the Cibola National Forest, and is reached by the Sandia Crest Road (NM 536) up the range's gentler east side or on foot by the La Luz Trail. On the west the Crest breaks off in a cliff that drops well over 4,000 feet in about two miles toward the city, which sits at roughly 5,000 to 6,000 feet in the Rio Grande Valley. At the end of the road, the Sandia Crest House has a visitor center, gift shop, café and viewing plaza. It is a different spot from the ski-area summit dubbed Sandia Peak, about 1.3 miles south along the ridge, where the Sandia Peak Tramway arrives.
