Reid State Park, in Georgetown, Maine, protects one of the relatively few sandy beaches along Maine's mostly rocky, ledge-lined coast. Rocky headlands, including Griffith's Head, bookend the sand beach, and a salt marsh lies just behind the dunes. Despite the cold water typical of the Gulf of Maine, the beach remains a popular summer swimming spot. Its combination of sand beach and rocky coastline offers a broader range of shoreline habitat than most single-type Maine beach parks.
