Iron-on patch

Punto Urban Art Museum

$8.00

The Punto Urban Art Museum is an open-air museum of more than 75 large-scale murals spread across about three blocks of Salem's Point neighborhood, known locally as El Punto. It was created by the North Shore Community Development Coalition after a year-long community planning process that began in 2013, and it opened in 2017 with 50 murals. Artists from South America, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Spain, Italy and elsewhere painted here and mentored local artists as part of the program. The murals cover brick buildings put up after the Salem fire of 1914, in a working-class neighborhood that is today home mostly to Latino and immigrant residents. The museum's stated aims are neighborhood pride, breaking down barriers between The Point and the rest of Salem, and more business for local shops.
