Iron-on patch

Presidio Park

$8.00

Presidio Park is a city historic park of about 40 acres on Presidio Hill in San Diego, overlooking Old Town and the San Diego River valley. It is the site where the San Diego Presidio and Mission San Diego de Alcalá were founded in 1769, the first European settlement in what is now California. The mission moved upriver a few years later, and the presidio was gradually abandoned and lay in ruins by 1835; a fenced area now protects the excavated foundations of its chapel and walls. George Marston bought the hill in 1907, built the park and the Mission Revival Junípero Serra Museum in 1925, and gave the park to the city in 1929. The park also holds the site of Fort Stockton, California Historical Landmark No. 54.
