Point Lobos State Natural Reserve

Point Lobos State Natural Reserve is a state park on the Central California coast, between the Carmel highlands and Big Sur. The waters alongside it are described as one of the richest marine habitats in California and are protected by two marine protected areas, the Point Lobos State Marine Conservation Area and the Point Lobos State Marine Reserve. The sea here is considered among the best scuba diving on the Monterey Peninsula. The reserve carries a number of hiking trails, many along the ocean, and a small number of beaches. The historic Whalers Cabin, built by Chinese fishermen and later used by Japanese and Portuguese crews, is now a museum.
