Iron-on patch

Pioneer Village

$8.00

Pioneer Village, also called Salem 1630: Pioneer Village, is a recreation of Salem as it looked in the 17th century, built in 1930 for the Massachusetts Bay tercentenary. It began as the set for a play re-enacting the 1630 arrival of John Winthrop's fleet, staged in Forest River Park, and proved so popular that it was kept. Its founders billed it as one of America's first living-history museums. Visitors walk among thatched-roof cottages, a dugout, a wigwam, a blacksmith's shop, a sawmill, a saltworks and gardens. It is open seasonally on a limited schedule of weekend afternoons, with evening tours and performances in October.
