Iron-on patch

Piedmont Park

$8.00

Piedmont Park is a 187-acre urban park in Midtown Atlanta, about a mile northeast of downtown, between the Midtown and Virginia-Highland neighborhoods. The land was a gentleman's farm until 1887, when the Gentlemen's Driving Club bought it; the park hosted the Piedmont Exposition that year and the Cotton States and International Exposition in 1895, where Booker T. Washington gave his Atlanta Exposition Speech. The city bought the park in 1904, and the sons of Frederick Law Olmsted drew up its plan in 1910. Today it has Lake Clara Meer, miles of paved paths, Isamu Noguchi's Playscapes, dog parks, ball fields and a tennis center, and it hosts the Atlanta Pride Festival, the Atlanta Jazz Festival, the Dogwood Festival and the finish of the Peachtree Road Race. The Atlanta Botanical Garden sits right next to it.
