Patagonia Lake State Park

Patagonia Lake State Park sits on a reservoir in southern Arizona's 'sky island' region near the town of Patagonia, close to the Mexican border. The area is internationally known among birders for the unusual overlap of temperate North American and subtropical Mexican bird species found there, drawing rare sightings not found almost anywhere else in the country. A nature preserve at the upper end of the lake protects riparian habitat along the inflow. Boating, fishing, and camping on the lake are popular alongside the birdwatching.
