Iron-on patch

Oklahoma State Capitol

$8.00

Oklahoma's state capitol, completed in 1917, stands directly atop the Oklahoma City Oil Field. Oil wells were drilled on the capitol grounds in the 1930s and 1940s, among them Capitol Site No. 1, known as Petunia No. 1, brought in in 1941 by directional drilling from the south plaza. The building's long-planned dome was finally added in 2002.
