Iron-on patch

North Market

$8.00

North Market is a public market and food hall in downtown Columbus, Ohio, run by the non-profit North Market Development Authority, with about 35 independent vendors selling prepared food, produce, meat and fish, and specialty goods. The market as an institution dates to 1876, when a market house was built on the former North Graveyard, and it is the only one of the city's four original public markets still at its original site. After fire destroyed the first market building in 1948, merchants moved into a war-surplus Quonset hut. Since November 1995 the market has occupied its current building on Spruce Street, a renovated 1915 Advance Thresher Company warehouse in the North Market Historic District. The bell from the first market house, which survived the fire, stands at the northeast corner of the parking lot.
