The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum is a museum of Western art, rodeo and frontier history on Persimmon Hill in northeast Oklahoma City, home of James Earle Fraser's End of the Trail sculpture. Founded in 1955 as the Cowboy Hall of Fame, it took its present name in 2000. Its collections hold more than 28,000 Western and American Indian artworks and artifacts, including paintings by Charles M. Russell and Frederic Remington and more than 700 works by Edward S. Curtis. It also keeps large collections of rodeo photographs, barbed wire, saddlery and early rodeo trophies, and hosts the annual Prix de West Invitational Art Exhibition and Sale each June.
