Music Hall, commonly called Cincinnati Music Hall, is a concert hall at 1241 Elm Street in Over-the-Rhine, across from Washington Park. Designed by Samuel Hannaford in the Victorian Gothic Revival style and completed in 1878, it was funded largely by patron Reuben Springer after rain on the tin roof of the old Exposition Hall drowned out an 1875 May Festival performance. It is home to the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the Cincinnati Pops, Cincinnati Opera, Cincinnati Ballet and the May Festival Chorus, and its Springer Auditorium seats about 2,300 for symphony concerts. The hall hosted the 1880 Democratic National Convention and served as the city's main convention center until the 1970s. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1975 and reopened in 2017 after a $143 million renovation.
