Mount Philo State Park, near Charlotte, Vermont, was established in 1924 and is Vermont's oldest state park. A short road and trail climb to the summit of Mount Philo, a small mountain with views west across the Champlain Valley to Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains beyond. Its modest elevation and short hike make it a popular, family-friendly destination compared to Vermont's larger mountain parks. The park was created from land originally developed by a private company before the state took over its management.
