Iron-on patch

Milwaukee Art Museum

$8.00

The Milwaukee Art Museum sits on the Lake Michigan shore downtown and holds more than 34,000 works of art, from antiquity to the present. It grew out of the Layton Art Gallery and the Milwaukee Art Institute, both founded in 1888, which combined their collections in 1957 inside Eero Saarinen's Milwaukee County War Memorial. Its best-known building is Santiago Calatrava's Quadracci Pavilion of 2001, whose movable brise soleil opens to a wingspan of 217 feet during the day and folds shut at night. The collection is strong in Georgia O'Keeffe, German Expressionism and American folk and self-taught art.
