Memorial Park

$8.00

Memorial Park is a municipal park of about 1,466 acres in west-central Houston, one of the largest urban parks in the United States, lying mostly inside the 610 Loop between Interstate 10 and Buffalo Bayou. From 1917 to 1923 the land was Camp Logan, a World War I Army training camp; in 1924 Will and Mike Hogg bought the site and sold it to the city at cost as a memorial to the soldiers who died in the war. The park holds the 18-hole Memorial Park Golf Course, the 3-mile Seymour Lieberman Exercise Trail with almost 3 million visits a year, miles of wooded multi-use trails in the Bayou Wilds, and the Land Bridge and Prairie, which opened over a six-lane road in 2023. The 155-acre Houston Arboretum and Nature Center, with more than five miles of nature trails, sits inside the park. The nonprofit Memorial Park Conservancy has run the park since 2016.
