Lands End & Sutro Baths

$8.00

Lands End is a park on the rocky northwest corner of San Francisco, part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, stretching along the cliffs at the mouth of the Golden Gate between the Sea Cliff neighborhood and Point Lobos Avenue. Its most-used route is the Coastal Trail, which follows the old railbed of the Cliff House railway Adolph Sutro built in the 1880s, with overlooks of the Golden Gate Bridge and spur trails down to Mile Rock Beach. At the park's western end, below Point Lobos, lie the concrete ruins of the Sutro Baths, a saltwater bathing complex that opened in 1896 as the world's largest indoor swimming establishment. The baths burned in 1966 while being demolished, leaving the foundations, stairs and a sea tunnel that visitors can explore today. The Lands End Lookout visitor center opened in 2012.
