Lake Pueblo State Park

Lake Pueblo State Park, just outside Pueblo, Colorado, surrounds Pueblo Reservoir, formed by the Pueblo Dam on the Arkansas River and completed in 1975. The dam was built in part for flood control, in response to a devastating flood that struck Pueblo in 1921 and destroyed much of the city's downtown. The reservoir is now a major destination for boating, fishing, and swimming in southeastern Colorado, with a nature center overlooking the water. Its size and open plains setting make it one of the busier parks along Colorado's Front Range.
