Iron-on patch

King Neptune Statue

$8.00

King Neptune is a bronze statue by sculptor Paul DiPasquale at the entrance to Neptune's Park on the Virginia Beach Boardwalk at 31st Street. It is 34 feet tall overall, and about 12 feet of that is a sculpted rock base covered with fish, two dolphins and a climbing octopus; above it Neptune rises from the waist, holding a trident and resting a hand on an 11-foot loggerhead turtle. The 12.5-ton statue was cast in China and dedicated to the city on September 30, 2005, during the Neptune Festival's Boardwalk Weekend. The festival itself began in 1974, three decades before the statue was made.
