Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area

$8.00

Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area is a 401-acre state park unit in the Baldwin Hills of Los Angeles, managed by the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation. The land was once the Baldwin Hills Reservoir, whose dam failed catastrophically in 1963, and the park opened in 1983 as the Baldwin Hills State Recreation Area before being renamed in 1988 for county supervisor Kenneth Hahn. Its trails and ridges give views of the Hollywood Sign, downtown Los Angeles, the Santa Monica Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. The park also has a stocked fishing lake, a Japanese garden with a lotus pond, picnic grounds and an Olympic Forest of trees planted for the nations of the 1984 Summer Olympics. Entry is free for visitors on foot, by bike or by transit.
