Kachemak Bay State Park

Kachemak Bay State Park, across the bay from Homer, Alaska, was established in 1970 as Alaska's first state park. It protects a wilderness of tidewater glaciers, including Grewingk Glacier, along with fjords, mountains, and dense coastal forest. The park has no road access and is reached only by boat or floatplane from Homer, keeping visitor numbers relatively low despite its scenic reputation. Kayaking, remote hiking, and glacier viewing are its main draws.
