Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park

Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, on California's Big Sur coast, is named for a pioneer settler and conservationist whose family homesteaded in the area. Its best-known feature is McWay Falls, an 80-foot waterfall that drops into McWay Cove, viewed today from an overlook trail above the beach rather than from the sand itself. The park also includes redwood canyons and steep coastal bluffs typical of the rugged Big Sur shoreline. Its combination of waterfall, cove, and coastal views makes it one of the most photographed stops along Highway 1.
