Iron-on patch

Jockey's Ridge State Park

$8.00

Jockey's Ridge State Park, in Nags Head, North Carolina, protects the tallest natural sand dune system on the Atlantic coast, a shifting mass of sand built up by onshore winds along the Outer Banks. It is designated a National Natural Landmark and remains one of the most visited state parks in North Carolina. The open dunes make it a popular spot for hang gliding, a tradition connected to the Outer Banks' history as the site of the Wright brothers' early flight experiments a few miles north. Unlike most dune systems, Jockey's Ridge continues to shift and reshape with the wind rather than being anchored by vegetation.
