Indian Springs State Park, near Flovilla, Georgia, protects mineral springs long used by the Creek Nation for their reputed healing properties before the land was ceded to Georgia in an 1821 treaty. The area developed into a popular 19th-century spa resort, and the park is often cited as one of the oldest state parks in the country. A stone springhouse and bathhouse built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s still stand over the spring. The park remains a popular local gathering spot for picnics and family reunions.
