The Idaho Potato Museum in Blackfoot, Idaho occupies the restored 1912 Oregon Short Line Railroad Depot, donated by Union Pacific to the city. A group of local potato-industry figures held a trial opening in the summer of 1988 that drew about 2,000 visitors despite community skepticism, and the museum officially opened to tourists in 1989. Its exhibits include a timeline of potato history in the United States and the world's largest potato chip, a 25-by-14-inch Pringle donated by Procter & Gamble. The attached Spud Seller gift shop and Potato Station Café serve potato-themed food and souvenirs.
