Humpback Rocks

Humpback Rocks is a massive greenstone outcropping near the peak of Humpback Mountain, in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Augusta and Nelson counties, Virginia, with a summit elevation of 3,080 feet. The formation takes its name from the hump its western face creates against the skyline. It lies about six miles south of the Blue Ridge Parkway's northern entrance near Waynesboro, and its bare rock summit stands out among the heavily vegetated peaks around it. A steep trail climbs to the rocks from the parkway, and a visitor center and reconstructed mountain farmstead sit at the base.
