Hocking Hills State Park

Hocking Hills State Park, near Logan, Ohio, is Ohio's most visited state park, made up of a series of gorges cut into soft Blackhand sandstone. Its features include Old Man's Cave, named for a hermit said to have lived there in the early 1800s, and Ash Cave, the largest recess cave in the state at roughly 700 feet long. Cedar Falls, Rock House, and Conkle's Hollow are among several other named sites connected by a network of hiking trails through the park's separate areas. The soft sandstone has eroded into deep, narrow gorges unusual for the otherwise rolling terrain of southeastern Ohio.
