Iron-on patch

Historic West End (Biddleville-Five Points)

$8.00

Historic West End is the area along Beatties Ford Road just west of Uptown Charlotte and Interstate 77, centered on the Biddleville neighborhood and the Five Points crossroads. Biddleville is the oldest surviving predominantly African-American neighborhood in Charlotte. It grew up around the Biddle Memorial Institute, founded in 1867 to educate Black preachers and teachers, which is now Johnson C. Smith University, a historically black university. Five Points, where Beatties Ford Road, Rozzelles Ferry Road, State Street, West Fifth Street and West Trade Street meet, is one of the oldest intersections in Mecklenburg County and the gateway to the West End. The CityLynx Gold Line streetcar has served the corridor since 2021.
