Ha Ha Tonka State Park

Ha Ha Tonka State Park, near Camdenton, Missouri, is built around the ruins of a European-style stone mansion begun in 1905 by Kansas City businessman Robert McClure Snyder, who died in one of Missouri's first automobile accidents before construction finished. The castle burned in 1942, leaving its walls standing on a bluff above a spring-fed lake formed within a collapsed karst cavern system. The same underground collapse created a network of sinkholes, caves, and a natural bridge found throughout the park. The area's name is believed to come from a Native American phrase describing the sound of the spring's rushing water.
