Iron-on patch

Guthrie Green

$8.00

Guthrie Green is a 2.6-acre public park in the Tulsa Arts District of downtown Tulsa, opened on September 7, 2012 and named for Oklahoma folk singer Woody Guthrie. It sits on a former freight and truck-loading yard, where 12 underground storage tanks were removed in a brownfield cleanup led by the George Kaiser Family Foundation, which developed the park and still manages it. Designed by SWA Group, it has a lawn amphitheater, a covered stage, interactive fountains, gardens and the Dock pavilion with a café, and 120 geothermal wells beneath it supply heating and cooling to neighboring arts buildings. Free programming fills the lawn through much of the year, including Food Truck Wednesdays, fitness classes, outdoor films, markets and concerts. The American Planning Association named it one of its Great Places in America in 2016.
