Golden Gate Canyon State Park, in the foothills west of Golden and Denver, Colorado, was assembled beginning in the 1960s from a series of former ranches in the Front Range. Its Panorama Point overlook is known for views stretching across more than a hundred miles of the Continental Divide on clear days, including Longs Peak. The park includes several small reservoirs and more than 35 miles of hiking, biking, and horseback trails through aspen and pine forest. Elk and other wildlife are commonly seen throughout the park.
