Iron-on patch

Gerald R. Ford Birthsite

$8.00

The Gerald R. Ford Birthsite and Gardens is a memorial park at 3202 Woolworth Avenue in Midtown Omaha marking where the 38th president was born in July 1913. The house itself is gone: it was his paternal grandparents' three-story, fourteen-room Victorian home, and it was razed after a 1971 fire. Ford lived there for only a couple of weeks as a newborn. Omaha businessman James M. Paxson bought the empty lot after Ford became president and funded the memorial, dedicated in 1977, with a portico evoking the White House, a pagoda recalling part of the old house, a rose garden honoring Betty Ford and an exhibit kiosk.
