Iron-on patch

Fresno Water Tower

$8.00

The Old Fresno Water Tower is an 1894 brick water tower in downtown Fresno, designed in the American Romanesque style by Chicago architect George Washington Maher. Maher took his cue from the Chicago Water Tower, which survived the Great Chicago Fire, and planned a library inside that was never built. The 109-foot tower held 250,000 gallons and served the city until 1963. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971, it became the visitor center for Fresno and Fresno County in 2001, and since 2014 it has been run by the Fresno Art Council with an art gallery inside.
