Fresno Chaffee Zoo

$8.00

The Fresno Chaffee Zoo covers 39 acres inside Roeding Park and houses more than 190 species. Its official opening dates to 1929 as the Roeding Park Zoo, and it was renamed in 1990 for Paul S. Chaffee, its director from 1965. Voter-approved Measure Z sales-tax funding, first passed in 2004, paid for Sea Lion Cove in 2012, the 13-acre African Adventure in 2015 with lions, elephants, rhinos and giraffes, and Kingdoms of Asia in 2023 with tigers and orangutans. The zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
