400 West Rich is a converted 1910-era industrial building at 400 W. Rich Street in East Franklinton, just west of downtown Columbus, Ohio, that houses resident artist studios, galleries and event space. It is the anchor of the Franklinton arts district, the artist-led revival that followed the 2004 completion of the Franklinton Floodwall, which lifted building restrictions that had frozen the flood-prone neighborhood since the 1980s. On Franklinton Fridays, the second Friday of each month from 6 to 10 p.m., the studios open to the public for free as part of a neighborhood-wide gallery and food walk. Street art along Lucas Street and the annual Urban Scrawl mural festival fill the surrounding blocks. Franklinton itself dates to 1797, when Lucas Sullivant laid it out as the first American settlement in Franklin County.
